As Reed Davis, Founder of FDN states, “Symptoms are not the problem, they are the result of the problem.” This perspective underscores a fundamental principle of holistic health: our bodies are wonderfully created to work FOR us by seeking balance at all times to function optimally. However, when we engage in less than ideal lifestyle choices—be it poor diet, inadequate rest, insufficient exercise, or chronic stress—our bodies eventually reach a tipping point and symptoms manifest.
Symptoms are similar to our bodies check engine light coming on. Just as we wouldn't simply ignore or disable the check engine light without addressing the underlying issue, we shouldn't merely suppress symptoms with pain relievers and antacids. These drugs may provide temporary relief, but they do not tackle the root cause of the problem. Instead, they can mask underlying issues, potentially allowing them to worsen over time.
It is important to become more attuned to our bodies and what they desire from us to perform optimally. Symptoms such as brain fog, bloating, and constipation are not random occurrences; they are signals that something in our lifestyle or environment is out of alignment. By becoming more attuned to these signals and making conscious adjustments to our diet, rest, exercise, and stress management routines, we can work towards restoring balance and achieving better overall health. This approach fosters a deeper connection with our bodies and promotes long-term well-being.
